Page Layout

To give your site added pizzazz, you are going to need to create a visual presentation of your written information. In other words, create a page layout look for your site. This is done with simple use of HTML.

Learning to Use HTML – A New Skill that Could Pay You Benefits

HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) is the basic programming code for the Internet. The code can be used to build a web page or an entire website. IF you work in a web builder, then most of that programming work has been done for you. You may choose to learn HTML just as an added skill to help you work your web pages. It is not something you have to learn. With some builders it can assist you to control the placement of images and text on your page more precisely. It can also be helpful with some builders to optimize your website pages for search engines.

HTML Information for your Web site

When writing your HTML code, do not do hard return (hitting your "enter") on the code. Doing a hard return will put a break in the code and make the code non-effective.

The other thing to remember is that many Web site builders do not accept quotation marks, dollar signs or pound signs.

HTML - and Changing the Fonts

Change Font Style

Remember, any font style you select (Arial, Times, etc.) will show in the visitor’s monitor if that font is in the visitor’s computer. You can select a font style for the whole page or for a single word, or even a single letter.

Change Font Color

You can type in the basic colors to change the font, such as red, orange, blue, navy, purple, etc.

Change Font Size

In the example on the other page we place an x in the quotation marks for size. That x represents any number you may want to set for the size.

Special Note - Don't Break the HTML Code

If the HTML code for any of the coding below is broken, ie: not a solid line of code, fix it before using it. In other words, all HTML code cannot have a hard return (hitting the "enter" key) for them to work. If you hit the enter key for any HTML codes, the code will not work.

Change Font on Page Setup

With most online Web site builders, you can change the font face, the font color and the size of the font at the Web site's administration Change Setting page. This does a universal change for all your Main pages or Product pages in the Headline or Body fields. The above codes allow you to pick particular words, phrases, paragraphs or entire pages to effect the font.

Getting Used to It

At first, when you look at this you will probably feel like you are attempting to read Greek. Actually, there are about 20 HTML commands you will be exposed to here. Once you learn them you will see they are quite simple.
