Determining Your Personal Marketing Style
Organizer Marketing Style
Please print the information and add to your coaching notes.
ORGANIZER
Motivation: A clear, precise objective with clear step-by-step procedure to
get there
Motto: Do it Right (Accurately)
Description:
As an Organizer you are not necessarily organized; you simply operate best in
an organized structure. You like to know what the objective is and the steps
to get there. Others see you as reliable and dependable. You like your work
to be accurate and precise; therefore you probably enjoy organizing information,
data and things.
In some ways you are the perfect employee. Most likely, you feel most comfortable
when someone tells you what he/she wants and how to do it. You are probably
a good listener, as Organizers tend to listen for instructions, guidance and
direction.
Strengths:
Your approach to things tends to be cautious and conservative so that you are
clear and accurate in the decisions you make and the work you do. Because of
this approach, your work is reliable and you get a lot done, which is satisfying
to you. You probably feel you are at your best when you keep things neat, your
thinking practical and your interaction with others polite and agreeable. As
a result, satisfied customers see your contribution as invaluable and well worth
the price.
Areas of Concern:
Since your focus is on order and organization you tend not to be strong in imagination,
creativity or innovation. Your conservative, cautious approach can make you
“penny wise” and “pound foolish.” Because you tend to want to clearly know the
outcome and the specific procedure to get there, you can get into procrastination
when everything is not totally clear. This kind of “Perfectionism” can get you
caught in “analysis paralysis” where you worry about how to anticipate things
that could go wrong.
Because your tendency is to look to others to give you a structure to work
in, guidelines and direction, you are probably not so strong when it comes to
being a self-starter.
Success Strategies
Playing to Your Strengths
* Make sure you have a clear plan of action for yourself each week even each
day – specific times to work and a detailed To Do list; the more specific the
better for you.
* Have confidence in your reliability, accuracy and ability to organize things
as you build your own business.
Strategies to Improve
* Push yourself to become more of a self-starter.
* Take action that moves you out of your comfort zone.
* Learn to do things a step at a time without having to know exactly how things
are going to turn out.
* Give yourself opportunities to become more self-reliant, take chances and
risks that move you out of the comfortably predicable into new areas where you
can learn and grow.
* Take the initiative to learn and exercise your own creativity and innovativeness.
Learn to use creative thinking models for yourself and your business.
* Write in your Business Journal daily to develop your own direction, clarity
and motivation.
Offline Marketing
Beginning:
Because you are so thorough and dependable, the easiest way for you to market
is to get other people talking about you. So linking up with gatekeepers and
getting referrals from people you have already worked with will come most naturally
to you. They can introduce you others who need you. Also, pick a business name
that reflects your strengths; it can bring you business.
Intermediate:
You can boost your marketing by telling your potential clients about the details
involved in doing what you do so well and how it will meet their needs through
free consultations, educational brochures and newsletters. Volunteering for
service and community organizations will also be a good way to let others know
what a good job you do.
Advanced:
As your confidence grows, you can boost your marketing by networking and listening
to people talk about their needs for your kind of work. You can also expand
by learning to speak interestingly about your expertise by taking courses from
organizations like Toastmasters and then giving presentations at business and
service organizations or teaching classes.
